The Centre for Maritime Industry Development is responsible for the advancement (development) of the maritime economy, including the socio-economic interests of maritime, which include the creation of the Maritime Industry Cluster that is to be used as a key vehicle in attaining the goal of positioning South Africa as an International Maritime Centre.  Some of the Centre’s  areas of business include, but not limited to:  cluster development, SMME/BEE development,  research and economic analysis.
